Industrial Ventilation

Industrial ventilation is an engineering study that evaluates the air needs and pollutant sources in the production area together. MKA Engineering; It provides project services for general ventilation, local suction, fresh air balance and fan-duct calculations.

Technical Design

In factory ventilation, flow rate, duct network and equipment are evaluated together.

Heat loads in the production area, exhaust requirements, machine-generated pollutants and personnel use are different design inputs. In cases where general ventilation and source capture do not perform the same function, local suction lines are handled separately.

01 / ACCOUNT

Design air flow rate

Fresh air, exhaust and local suction flow rates are evaluated separately according to human load, space usage, process heat loads and pollutant sources, if any.

02 / CHANNEL

Channel cross-section and pressure loss

By calculating air speeds, route, elbows, branches and equipment losses, duct dimensions and critical line pressure loss are determined.

03 / EQUIPMENT

Fan and filter selection

The fan duty point is determined according to the design flow rate and total static pressure; filtering, audio and maintenance requirements are addressed together with the terms of use.

04 / BALANCE

Fresh air and exhaust balance

Fresh air to be provided instead of exhausted air, building pressure balance, effects on heating-cooling load and door/opening relationships are evaluated on a system basis.

Project Specific Process

Four-stage approach from exploration to channel placement.

In order to achieve the right result in the ventilation project, it is necessary to determine the actual need of the location and process before the equipment catalogue.

01

Field reconnaissance and process data

The production area, welding points, existing vents and aspiration lines, machine layouts and usage scenarios are examined.

02

Calculation and design criteria

Project-specific design assumptions are determined for flow rate, air velocity, duct pressure loss, outdoor air requirement and equipment placement.

03

Project and material recipes

Channel plans, sections, connection details, fan/filter requirements, technical specifications and survey-quantity documents are created.

04

Field coordination

Assembly routes, equipment access, electrical-automation coordination, measurement and commissioning controls are evaluated.

Preliminary Review

Required data to start the account

  • Space dimensions, floor height and layout plan
  • Type of production process, equipment location and working hours
  • Current or anticipated sources of heat and pollutants
  • Desired indoor conditions and outdoor air/exhaust route
  • Measurement, project and equipment information if there is an existing duct-fan system

If the information is not complete, the scope of discovery can be determined accordingly.

Application Separation

Difference between general ventilation and local suction

General ventilation helps refresh ambient air and manage heat load. In cases where dust, smoke, steam or process gas must be controlled at the source, local suction and appropriate filtration are designed when necessary. For facilities with a risk of hazardous substances, flammable dust or explosive atmospheres, a risk assessment and design in accordance with the relevant legislation is required.

Note: Applying a fixed air exchange coefficient to every facility may not give accurate results. Flow rates and equipment selection should be calculated according to the actual process conditions of the facility.

Detailed Technical Coverage

Industrial Ventilation and Local Suction Subsystems

Each subsystem is evaluated with separate calculation and equipment criteria in the project; are combined into a single engineering solution suitable for operating conditions.

01 / SUBSYSTEM

General volume ventilation

Air exchange and fresh air needs are determined based on production area volume, process temperature, personnel and pollutant loads.

02 / SUBSYSTEM

Local suction at the source

Capture speed, suction nozzle and duct system are calculated separately for welding fume, dusty machine, hood and aspiration arm.

03 / SUBSYSTEM

Dust and smoke filtering

Cartridge filter, bag filter, scrubber or other suitable retention equipment is selected according to the pollutant class.

04 / SUBSYSTEM

Channel and branch calculation

Main duct and branch diameters, air velocities, elbow/tee losses and filter static pressure loss are calculated.

05 / SUBSYSTEM

Fan and VFD selection

Fan curve, required total static pressure, motor power, noise, vibration and frequency controlled operation are evaluated.

06 / SUBSYSTEM

Fresh air and exhaust balance

In-plant negative/positive pressure requirement, outdoor air supply, discharge point and door leaks are coordinated.

07 / SUBSYSTEM

Flammable dust and explosion risk

ATEX/hazardous area classification, grounding, explosion isolation and equipment acceptance documents are also evaluated where appropriate.

Equipment, accounts and documents

Fan, filter, air ducts, hood, vent, VFD, fresh air unit; flow-standard pressure loss report, plan, specification and test forms.

Technical inspection and delivery

Survey, calculation, application project, device selection, survey-quantity survey, technical specification, field control and related testing-commissioning processes are documented according to the project scope.

Discovery inputs and engineering deliverables

In Industrial Ventilation study, the following information available can be shared in the first meeting. Field detection or additional calculation requirements for missing data are determined separately. Frequently asked questions

How to prepare a quote for Industrial Ventilation?

Process, pollutant and work area information is shared along with the facility's district, usage type and requested service. Account, project, application and test items are separated in the written scope.

Will existing drawings be sufficient?

The drawings are compared with the field. If there are revisions, changes in use, and missing equipment information, their impact on the account or project is examined.

What documents are submitted?

Design assumptions and air flow calculation, duct losses and fan operating point and other documents included in the scope of work are delivered. The file format and revision scope are determined at the outset.

Is fixed capacity used for each facility?

No. Usage, system structure and field data are different. Numerical values cannot be applied to all facilities without verifying the relevant calculation and method.

Are implementation and control the same scope?

Project planning, assembly, field inspection and testing tasks are defined separately. The proposal states which party is responsible for which work.

From which regions do you receive requests for exploration?

Requests from Çorlu, Ergene, Kapaklı and Tekirdağ are evaluated from our Çerkezköy center. The time and conditions of the field visit are decided separately.
