Hydrophore Flow and Pressure Calculation: Critical Line, Pump and Excel

Choosing the booster pump only according to the building height or with a fixed bar value may not give correct results. It is necessary to calculate the flow rate required by the system and the net pressure that should remain at the most negative consumption point.

Account Stages

Account order and technical controls

Files are a helpful calculation tool; Results should be checked against project conditions, applicable standards and manufacturer technical data. The following sequence explains why input data is important.

01

1. Demand throughput and concurrency

Luminaires, number of users, usage hours and process consumption, if any, are listed. Instead of directly collecting the rated flow rates of all fixtures, the simultaneity method appropriate to the application is selected. Separate needs such as tank filling or fire water are handled without mixing.

02

2. Critical point and elevation difference

The routes from the warehouse or network supply to the highest or furthest consumption points are examined. It may not always be the geometrically furthest faucet, but rather the most negative point in the total pressure requirement, that is critical. The elevation difference and the desired usage pressure at the terminal must be calculated.

03

3. Pipe and armature pressure losses

The actual inner diameter, length, material, flow rate, elbow, valve and filter losses of the main and branch pipes are calculated. While losses on the same route are collected, losses on parallel lines are not collected randomly. The calculation method and fluid properties depending on water temperature should be written in the report.

04

4. Pump duty point

Required head; It consists of the level difference, line and armature losses and the desired pressure at the end point; The available available pressure at the pump inlet is also taken into account. The pump curve is verified on the design flow rate; In a multi-pump system, staggered operation and backup are also considered.

05

5. Suction line and overpressure control

The tank minimum water level, suction geometry, filter and valve losses and the manufacturer's NPSH conditions are examined. In addition, excessive pressure that may occur on the lower floors should be controlled with the pump's closed valve or maximum pressure condition. If necessary, pressure zoning and reducers are designed.

06

6. Control and commissioning

Frequency controlled booster, pressure sensor, pressure tank, check valve, isolation valve, dry running protection and panel alarm scenario must be compatible with each other. In field tests, it is measured and recorded that the target pressure is maintained with minimum and maximum consumption.

Frequently asked questions

Would 7 bar water booster be sufficient in every building?

No. Actual flow rate, elevation difference, line losses, worst fitting pressure and maximum installation pressure should be determined.

Why is the level of the water tank important in the hydrophore calculation?

It may affect the pump suction pressure and the risk of cavitation; The minimum level and suction losses are controlled together.

Engineering Evaluation

Spreadsheets should be validated against actual field data.

Application should not be made based solely on the results of the table without correctly entering the materials, equipment, working pressure, fluid properties and field elevations.

Account and resource verification record

This guide explains the general technical approach. The standard version, design value and method to be applied must be verified by the engineer in charge for the actual project. The formulas in the downloadable calculus files have not undergone independent engineering verification in this release update; It cannot be used in place of an approved project account or official report.

The source, unit, acceptance, publication used and result control of the input should be kept together in the accounting record. It is not assumed that the formula will give the same result if the unit of the inputs is changed. A sample result is not a statement of capacity or suitability for the actual facility.
