Plumbing Standards: TS EN 806, 12056 and 1717 Guide

In plumbing, pressurized distribution of clean water and gravity transport of wastewater have different design principles. Standard selection should be considered together with fixture load, usage profile, water quality, elevations and function of the structure.

Scope of standards and project implementation

This guide does not reproduce the full text of the relevant standards. It summarizes which technical issues should be checked in the design; Binding articles, current editions and national acceptance conditions should be confirmed from official sources.

01

TS EN 806: Indoor potable water

Design, installation and operating principles of indoor drinking and utility water installations are evaluated. Distribution line, pipe material, pressure, fixture usage frequency and maintenance access are examined together. The diameter of a branch cannot be explained by the number of devices alone.

02

TS EN 12056: Gravity building drainage

Dimensioning of wastewater and rainwater drainage within the building, ventilation, cleaning connections and slope conditions are handled according to the scope of the relevant standard. Especially TS EN 12056-2 is one of the reference sources for sanitary wastewater systems.

03

TS EN 1717: Backflow protection

In reverse flow connections that may cause contamination of the drinking water installation, the liquid risk category and appropriate protection scheme are evaluated. Uncontrolled connections of domestic water and process, rain or recycled water lines are not suitable.

04

Hydrophore and critical tap pressure

Level difference, line friction, armature losses and required pressure are calculated from the network or tank outlet to the most negative point. Pressurization equipment and pressure zones are determined according to building conditions.

05

Hot water and circulation

Boiler/heat exchanger, hot water distribution, circulation losses, thermostatic balancing and hygiene risk are considered together. The risk of scalding at high temperatures and operational hygiene may require separate protective measures.

06

Project documentation and verification

Location/faucet list, clean water calculations, waste water column diagrams, roof area/rainfall assumptions, pump curves, valves and maintenance points are reported separately in the technical file.

Frequently asked technical questions

Are clean water and waste water pipe diameters calculated with the same method?

No. Clean water pressurized flow; wastewater is generally evaluated according to gravity drainage conditions.

Why is TS EN 1717 important?

Addresses conservation principles to prevent contamination of drinking water by backflow from other systems.

Technical Reminder

The standard number becomes meaningful with the correct version and scope of use.

Product certification, design standard and applicable legislation are different elements. The version, scope and equipment suitability of the relevant reference should be explained separately in the technical specification and acceptance file.

Account and resource verification record

This guide explains the general technical approach. The standard version, design value and method to be applied must be verified by the engineer in charge for the actual project. The formulas in the downloadable calculus files have not undergone independent engineering verification in this release update; It cannot be used in place of an approved project account or official report.

The source, unit, acceptance, publication used and result control of the input should be kept together in the accounting record. It is not assumed that the formula will give the same result if the unit of the inputs is changed. A sample result is not a statement of capacity or suitability for the actual facility.
