Industrial Steam and Condensate Return Line Project Design

We prepare mechanical projects and application details of steam distribution, pressure reducing stations, separators, steam traps and condensate return lines in production facilities.

Technical Calculation and Project

Design principles for Steam and Condensate Installations

In steam installation, it is not just the pipe diameter; Process load, steam pressure and degree of dryness, temperature, line slope, expansion and condensate management must be solved together.

01 / STEAM & CONDENSATE

steam consumption

Line capacity is determined based on the kg/hour requirement, working pressure and simultaneity of the process devices.

02 / STEAM & CONDENSATE

Line size and pressure loss

Steam velocity, pressure loss and temperature-appropriate piping are evaluated; The slope and drainage of distribution lines are designed.

03 / STEAM & CONDENSATE

Steam trap and separator

Condensate accumulation, air discharge and appropriate steam trap type are selected according to the point of use.

04 / STEAM & CONDENSATE

condensate return

The pressure at the steam trap outlet, flash steam generation and condensate pumping conditions are taken into account in the calculation.

Engineering Process

Discovery, calculation, project and field control

Design assumptions are clarified by evaluating each facility's intended use, existing infrastructure and equipment conditions separately.

01

Process needs analysis

Steam loads, operating pressures and rotation scenario are extracted.

02

Thermodynamic evaluation

Steam lines, temperature/expansion and possible condensate regimes are examined.

03

Equipment and layout

Pressure reducer, steam trap, discharge, valve and insulation details are determined.

04

Technical drawing and testing

Line diagram, support/compensation, quantity surveying and necessary tests are described.

Project Preliminary Information

The data we need in technical evaluation

  • Process steam consumption and pressures
  • Boiler/steam feed station capacity
  • Line routes and height differences
  • Current status of condensate recovery system
  • Operating temperatures and material/insulation conditions

Missing information and scope of discovery can be determined at the first meeting.

Safety and Standards

Critical conditions of the project

Water hammer and thermal expansion are serious risks in steam lines. It is not appropriate to connect the steam trap outlet to the high-pressure return line or ignore temperature compliance; details should be evaluated against authorized equipment documentation.

Relevant legislation, applicable TS/TS EN standards, employer technical specifications and manufacturer instructions are checked according to the project type. Application and testing processes must be carried out in accordance with the authorization/license conditions.

Technical Question

Is the diameter of the condensate line chosen the same as the steam line?

No. Condensate flow rate, back pressure, flash steam generation and transport regime are different; Separate account required.

Detailed Technical Coverage

Steam, Condensate and Recovery Subsystems
